The University League is a non-profit membership organization founded in 1901. The University League’s scholarship program is outstanding among Big Ten Women’s Organizations. The League has a long history of supporting students attending the University of Wisconsin – Madison, awarding approximately 2.1 million dollars in scholarships since the 1970s. Funds come from the proceeds of Named Endowed Scholarships and General Scholarship donations, which includes the annual Stay-at-Home Scholarship Benefit.

A total of $187,492 was awarded to UW-Madison students for the 2026-27 academic year.  Additional donations were gifted to community-based organizations including The Great Dane Readers and the Madison Friends of International Students.

Donations may be made In Memory Of (IMO) or In Honor Of (IHO) an individual. These funds are awarded to 12 UW-Madison Schools and Colleges for scholarships.

General Scholarship donation checks should be made payable to The University League, Inc. and mailed to:

THE UNIVERSITY LEAGUE CENTENNIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP and NAMED ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS

  • The University League Centennial Endowed Scholarship was established in 2016 to honor 100 years of financial aid to UW-Madison students. This scholarship will provide financial support to students in perpetuity.
  • Named Endowed Scholarships (NES)–A Named Endowed Scholarship is set up by having the donor work with The University League Endowed Scholarship Liaison and University of Wisconsin Foundation personnel. The endowed scholarship starts earning spendable income when it reaches the threshold (dollar amount) established by an individual University of Wisconsin-Madison college or school. Once the threshold is reached, a Named Endowed Scholarship may be established in the person’s name or In Memory Of (IMO) or In Honor Of (IHO) an individual.

Persons wanting to create a University League Named Endowed Scholarship should contact The University League Endowed Scholarship Liaison or Scholarship Committee Chair for assistance at universityleague.scholarship@gmail.com.

Donations to The University League Centennial Endowed Scholarship or to a Named Endowed Scholarship may be made payable to The University of Wisconsin Foundation and should include the name of the scholarship on the check and in a note. Mail to:
